The Slow Scroll, No. 09
dinner out, an eBay fail, a new artist on my radar, what I'm currently watching, recent outfits and more!
Happy Sunday! And Happy Easter if you celebrate :) 3rd trimester fatigue is hitting me hard, so I’m savoring a slow weekend at home with very little on the agenda.
I spent most of Saturday with my laptop — working on this newsletter while looking out an open window at our blooming dogwood tree. I love seeing all the spring blooms, but the pollen and mosquitoes, not so much!
Without further delay, let’s get into the highlights, finds, and outfits from the last 7 days!
This post is too long for email, so I recommend reading it in Substack for the best experience! If you enjoy this post, please leave a heart or share with friends who might also enjoy following along :)
I wasn’t out and about much this week, but since we had a friend in town on Friday night, I mustered up some energy and put on a cute outfit for dinner at NUE, a Vietnamese restaurant in Falls Church.
This is our second time having dinner at NUE —the food is delicious, cocktails (mocktails for me) are unique, and the service is attentive. The decor isn’t my vibe, but that’s just me being particular. If it was closer to our house, we would be regulars!

A peek into my screenshots and open tabs this week — since clothing is less exciting these days, my shopping focus has been on all things home.
I picked out a different Inslee Faris print for above the crib, but I swapped this alternative print into the design. I think I might like it better than my original selection?!
The nursery floor lamp. I ended up finding it on eBay as “open box, like new” and for 50% off the original price, I decided to take the risk. I was hesitant to order lighting from eBay (my first time!), but the seller had great reviews and pictures looked promising. Unfortunately, the lamp arrived damaged due to shipping mishandling. Such a bummer! Thankfully, the seller has been extremely communicative and helpful, but it has definitely turned it more of a headache than just buying it new.
I love the color scheme and embroidery on these red poppy cocktail napkins.
The side table I’ve picked out for the nursery — just waiting for it to go on sale!
How pretty is this pink ruffled glass vase?
Newly obsessed with Mia Lauren’s artwork — Mia is from Austin and I love how she captures blooming flowers. Giving me all the spring feels!
Not the name we’re using, but love this pillow for the nursery glider.
A set of rattan trays to get ready for al fresco dining on the patio.
Considering these pink embroidered crib sheets for the nursery.
A cordless lamp for my desk — love the miniature size and glass orb base.

Outfit 1 (left): We considered going to a casual dinner on Thursday night, but after getting dressed, decided we would rather grab takeout and settle in to watch Reacher (more on that show below). This was my first time wearing maternity denim! This style has the elastic over the bump fit — I love the under $100 price point and straight leg fit, but I think I would prefer a side panel maternity denim. I worry the over the bump style will become hot during the summer. I paired the denim with an oversized denim shirt, woven leather ballet flat, and red clutch (alternative).
Outfit 2 (middle): My recent go to office outfit formula consists of a knit top, ponte pant, ballet flats, and trench coat (similar). I love swapping in a knit top (KELLY25) as an elevated, office appropriate alternative to a basic white t-shirt. These comfortable ponte pants (currently 30% off!) are polished for the office and come in a variety of silhouettes and colorways. I have both the high rise crop straight leg and crop flare. At this point, I’ve sized up 3 sizes to accommodate for the bump.
Outfit 3 (right): My friends who were out of town during my baby shower put together a small brunch to celebrate baby girl. I was so excited to wear this pink striped knit dress — it was perfect for the occasion and would be great for an upcoming spring event! I paired it with my reliable ivory tweed Veronica Beard cropped jacket (similar), white strappy heels, mini jute tote bag, and a pop of turquoise (similar).
We were looking for a new show to watch this week and stumbled upon Reacher on Amazon Prime. Have you heard of it? It has 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and just wrapped up it’s 3rd season. The fact that I’ve just discovered it makes me feel like I’ve been living under a rock!
So what’s the scoop on Reacher? It’s an adaptation of Lee Child’s novel series Jack Reacher. The crime thriller series follows ex-military policeman, Jack Reacher, on his quest to solve crimes and seek justice. Season 1 opens with him getting arrested for murder — you quickly realize he’s not guilty, but he’s found himself in the middle of a small town conspiracy with lots of unexpected twists and turns. I’m curious how season 1 will finish and future seasons will be outlined!
I wore these red flats recently and felt inspired to share other pops of red — I spotted these chic heels (flats version), this tote, this clutch, this cardigan under $100, and this strapless maxi dress.
I’ve heard such good things about FX’s Dying for Sex!
One of my favorite pairs of white loafers are deeply discounted! See them on me here and here.
This olive, cropped boucle blazer to upgrade spring office style.
Lots of fun new arrivals at Little Liffner — like this basket bag, this mini bucket bag, and my beloved pillow pouch now comes in a micro size.
Did those AI generated action figures flood your feed last week?
I’m starting to take stock of my summer shoe collection — this pair of leather slides and these elevated flip flops are two pairs I wear repeatedly. Sharing them now since they consistently sell out!
Apparently everyone from Meghan Markle to Jennifer Lawrence is wearing the La Ligne Colby pants. The steel color is my personal favorite (and you can use code KELLY10 for 10% off!)
Moda Operandi knows how to create a lust worthy edit — Club Moda Riviera is not to be missed!
Some seriously gorgeous properties on this list of the best new city hotels around the world, including 3 new NYC properties!
NYT Wirecutter puts Quince to the test.
The Freda Salvador Friends and Family 20% off sale ends 4/21.
Two new local store openings that I’m excited about! STAUD in Georgetown and Rails in Bethesda.
Until next time,
