The Slow Scroll, No. 08
24 hours in NYC, nursery planning, a bingeworthy show, recent outfits, and more
Happy Sunday! I hope you’re having a relaxing morning — this week’s Slow Scroll is packed with all the good stuff: highlights from our recent NYC trip, a peek at nursery planning, a few favorite outfits of late, and a bingeworthy show to add to your watch list. Let’s dive in!
This post is too long for email, so I recommend reading it in Substack for the best experience! If you enjoy this post, please leave a heart or share with friends who might also enjoy following along :)
One of the best parts of living in DC is how easy it is to pop up to NYC — which we did last weekend to see Othello! We arrived in the city Saturday morning and squeezed the most out of the quick trip. Scroll to see snippets from our 24 hour adventure!

Now that the attic is finished (still needs soft goods and organizational details), my sights are set on getting the nursery ready for baby girl! It won’t be finished in time for her arrival, but I’m so excited to see it all come together.
Canva is a great app for creating flat lays to visualize how the final room will look, and since I use it often, the Pro upgrade for background removal is worth it. Below are two schemes I’m working through — the paint color or wallpaper is still very much TBD!
So far, I’ve ordered the crib, dresser, and daybed. I love the raffia texture of the dresser and feel confident that it’s a piece that will transition well into a “big girl room”. Sadly, the glider is out of stock in the print I want, as are the wireless sconces from Pooky Lighting, so I’m anxiously waiting for restocks. To dress the walls, a painting (or print) from Inslee Farris, as well as a watercolor alphabet from Larsen McDowell, are on my wishlist.

For the window treatments, I ordered multiple different swatches and trims from Pepper Home. I had decided on the rose velvet fabric with the dusty rose fringe trim, but then learned Pepper is releasing a new classics collection in 2 weeks — the new fabrics are amazing, so now I’m torn between a few other options!
From determining the correct measurements to choosing a construction style, there’s a lot to consider when ordering window treatments. I really like how Pepper Home presents all the options with tips to help make your decision — I plan to share more about the process and my experience as I go through it!

Recent outfits:
Outfit 1 (left): A comfy, casual outfit for wine club — It’s been surprisingly chilly this week in DC so I leaned into all things cozy. This matching knit set from Callahan Knitwear is stretchy enough to accommodate a growing baby girl, and I love how the red ballet flats pop against the navy. While the knit set is old, this cashmere hoodie and matching pants from Veronica Beard looks like such a chic, cozy alternative. Also spotted these more budget friendly pointelle pants from J.Crew!
Outfit 2 (middle): A neutral office outfit — I’m so happy I can still wear my beloved La Ligne Marin sweater (code KELLY10 for 10% off). I paired it with my Pistola Penny Cropped corduroy pants (no longer available, but similar options here and here), and snakeskin Dolce Vida loafers. Thankfully the sweater is long enough to conceal the fact that my pants are holding on by a hair tie :)
Outfit 3 (right): A tonal outfit for NYC — I needed an outfit that was going to take me through the entire day and this plisse set (top and pants) did just that! It is extremely comfortable, and when paired with my accessories, felt elevated and appropriate for all the stops, including a Broadway show! I paired the set with Studio Amelia strappy sandals, my beloved Hunting Season clutch (red sold out), and a turquoise necklace (similar).
I’ve been on a medical drama kick this week — I binged Netflix’s new medical drama, Pulse, and started The Pitt on HBO Max. Pulse is about a group of ER residents at a Miami hospital — it’s not bad, but also not that good either. It seems like it wants to be a new Grey’s Anatomy, but the plot is weak. In comparison, The Pitt is a phenomenal watch, which isn’t surprising given that HBO always delivers impressive shows. The show, based on a trauma ER in Pittsburgh, follows the medical team through their 15 hour shift with each episode depicting another hour of the shift. It is the most realistic medical drama I’ve watched — it “weaves its personal, medical and emotional ensemble storylines with staggering realism and heart-pounding urgency” (Variety).
I also watched The Life List on Netflix. It’s about a mother who sends her daughter on a quest to complete her childhood bucket list. It’s sweet, poignant, and funny. Definitely a good rainy day rom com watch!
The Sephora sale ends on Monday and if you’re feeling overwhelmed I shared a super slimmed down list of my top recommendations!
So many chic new arrivals from Australian brand DISSH — including this maxi dress, knit sleeveless top, and linen vest.
Now that my baby shower has passed, I have absolutely no need for a special occasion dress, but of course I’m always window shopping — I added a bunch of (non-maternity) spring forward dresses to this edit if you have a shower, luncheon, or party on the horizon.
This was such a fun brainstorm from travel experts on where the next season of White Lotus should be filmed!
A lovely reminder that experimenting with personal style has no age limit.
Big news in the fashion world as Prada agrees to buy Versace for $1.36 billion — thus uniting two of the most famous Italian fashion houses.
If you don’t have this $30 handy little tool in your arsenal, you’re missing out!
Tuckernuck has such a great collection of linens, I spotted these scalloped napkins — perfect for spring and under $100!
I’m trying to limit how many baby items I buy, but couldn’t resist this sweet pink baby deer stuffed rattle, tulip teether, and striped navy knit romper.
Until next time,
Kelly
