Hello, friends! This week’s been a whirlwind of finishing house renovations and prepping for family and friends to arrive next weekend—lots of organizing happening!
This Slow Scroll has a bit of everything — life updates, tips for welcoming house guests, recent outfits, DC restaurants to try, and other finds. Let’s dig in!
This post is too long for email, so I recommend reading it in Substack for the best experience! If you enjoy this post, please leave a heart or share with friends who might also enjoy following along :)
I recently shared on Instagram that I’m pregnant! After years of waiting, it feels surreal to actually say I’m pregnant. I don’t plan to share our IVF journey, but my DMs and email are always open if you want to chat : ) IVF and infertility in general can be incredibly isolating. If you’re in the thick of it, know you’re not alone.
I’m 28 weeks and officially in my third trimester. With our house renovation finished (huge sigh of relief and gratitude), I plan to share more about dressing a changing body and bump styling tips.

Next weekend is my baby shower and we’ve been busy prepping the house for guests — I’m so excited to see friends and family making the trip to celebrate baby girl.
To welcome our house guests, clean sheets and towels are an obvious must. I needed an extra set of sheets, so I ordered our favorite sheets — Boll and Branch signature hemmed sheets!
I also prepped baskets for each guests’ room filled with essentials, like toiletries they might have forgotten, snacks, and water.
Below are the items I included:
Bottled water
Skinny Pop
Protein bar
Travel deodorant
Mouthwash
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Tampons
Travel razors and shaving cream
Body lotion
Hair ties
Nail polish wipe removers and nail file
Ibuprofen
Tums
Besides the basket goodies, I keep the guest shower stocked with body wash, face wash, shampoo, and conditioner. A few other thoughtful items to include in a guest room are a phone charger, luggage rack, pillow/sheet spray, fresh flowers, and a candle with matches.
The next Slow Scroll will include baby shower weekend details, plus a round up of dresses. My body changes so much each week, so I waited until yesterday to finalize my dress choice before taking it to the tailor for hem alterations. I absolutely love the dress and can’t wait to share it with you.

Recent outfits:
Outfit 1 (left): It’s finally starting to feel like spring in DC — to create this office look, I happily swapped out my wool coat for a lighter trench. This exact coat is old, but this gingham trench from Sézane looks similar. I kept things comfortable with a pointelle knit cardigan, stretchy pants that accommodate the bump, and woven leather flats. I love the subtle interest a woven leather adds to an outfit.
Outfit 2 (middle): I wore this for date night to Osteria Mozza — I love this drapey floral print jacket from Tuckernuck! It’s such a unique silhouette, perfect for spring, and guaranteed to collect compliments when you wear it. I paired it with a silky navy pant and opted for silver accessories. A pair of silver heels and a silver bag are surprisingly versatile wardrobe additions.
Outfit 3 (right): I’m so happy this office-friendly outfit has been able to accommodate a growing bump! This matching rib knit sweater and skirt from Sézane are effortlessly chic and comfortable — a combo that isn’t always easy to come by these days. I like the look of navy with chocolate brown, so I styled with these tall suede boots (currently on sale!)
Out and about in DC:
This month, I tried two new restaurants: La’Shukran in Union Market and Osteria Mozza in Georgetown.
La’Shukran is part of the same family of restaurants as Albi and Yellow, so my expectations were high! The entrance is tucked away in an alley in Union Market and you’re greeted by a funky black and white striped staircase — the perfect intro to the colorful and buzzy interiors.
The menu is mostly a take on middle eastern classics and is served as shareable dishes. I didn’t take many food pictures (too busy catching up with girlfriends), but everything was delicious. One of my friends snagged the reservation after stalking for availability — highly suggest putting Ressy alerts on!

After sitting empty for years, the former Dean and DeLuca space in Georgetown was taken over by Osteria Mozza. The highly anticipated restaurant is a collaboration between the group behind Le Diplomate and LA chef Nancy Silverton (there’s another Osteria Mozza in LA).
People actually line up to before the restaurant opens to snag bar and communal table seats, but we randomly checked for openings on a Friday afternoon and got lucky! I was worried that Osteria might be over hyped, but it lived up to all our expectations. We sat at a small cafe table in the solarium — it was intimate and cozy, exactly what you want for a date night!
Other noteworthy things and links:
Innbeauty released an Extreme Cream version specifically formulated for the eye! I’m a huge fan of the Extreme Cream moisturizer and am thrilled about this new release. I stopped using the Extreme Cream while pregnant, so I’ll have to check the eye ingredients to see if it’s pregnancy safe. If not, I’ll be saving to use once baby girl arrives!
I’ve leaned into natural looking nails for easier upkeep. These 3 products (rehab base, sheer polish, and outlast top coat) gave my nails that natural, but better, look.
I spotted these tortoiseshell earrings under $100, they’re gorgeous!
The Frame friends and family 25% off sitewide sale is live until March 23. I recently got the jetset crop mini boot and I’m obsessed — I can see why they’re a travel favorite, but also great for a bump!
I suggest taking a look at the list of the 95 acne-treatment products being recalled by the FDA for potential benzene contamination, including La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo treatment!
I thought this was an interesting piece on renewed interest in heritage French clothing and accessory brands. People are rejecting micro-trends and seeking more longevity in what they incorporate into their wardrobes. Plus, brands like Sézane and Polène are fueling the appetite for French girl style!
How chic is this raffia and leather tote under $150? I really love the east-west silhouette.
I was recently having a conversation about feeling “out of the loop” when it comes to knowing the hot new spots in DC. I share the places I try, but it’s so hard to get reservations that I’m more likely to re-visit the established places I know and love. Regardless, I’m always excited to see what restaurant openings are coming — very excited to see the group behind Lutèce and Lapis is opening a new wine bar in a three-story brownstone!
Madewell’s Insider’s Sale runs through March 24 with 25% off everything including my beloved woven leather tote bag and this designer-looking belt. Other things I’m loving: this bandana print dress, brown barrel leg jeans, this shoulder bag for spring, very chic square-toe slingbacks, and this open stitch cardigan.
The bag I’ve been reaching for most often on weekends! It’s the perfect mix between sporty and stylish (plus water and stain resistant).
Until next time,
Kelly

Beyond thrilled for your expecting bundle! I know what the waiting feels like and I'm so happy when someone's is over. That little girl is so lucky!
Incredibly jealous you have a Osteria Mozza in DC, it's one of my favorite restaurants in LA. If they ever add the White Pizza to their lunch pizza offerings, GET IT!
Congratulations on your pregnancy! We also had some challenges conceiving and tried for years before having our daughter. It's truly such a gift and is such an exciting time! Love your outfits!
