The Slow Scroll, No. 02
Sweater care tips, bingeworthy shows, recent winter outfits, and more from the last week.
Good morning from my kitchen table — writing to you on Saturday morning with a fresh bagel and warm coffee by my side.
I had a busy week. Between work and social outings, I’m tired. I’m always thankful to see friends but embrace that it’s OK to feel tired after social events too. Writing helps me slow down and I’m thrilled to sit down this morning, slow sip my coffee, gather my thoughts and write to you. A quiet Saturday morning is a luxury.

In my DMs:
I’m a broken record but I love the La Ligne Marin sweater (code: KELLY10). But like the majority of cashmere or wool knits, it will pill with excessive wears — most notably in high friction areas.
To remove pills and keep my knits fresh looking, I use a fabric shaver and haven’t noticed any damage. I’m always cautious with using the shaver though since there is a risk of removing too many fibers if used incorrectly. For a more conservative method, you could try this sweater comb or this sweater stone.

What I watched:
Landman (Paramount +): Set in Midland, Texas, this new series starring Billy Bob Thornton as an massive oil company’s general manager balances drama and humor in an incredibly realistic way. You can expect the stress and danger that comes from oil drilling, along with laugh-out-loud family dynamics from his outrageous ex-wife and teenager daughter. Not normally a Billy Bob fan, but loved him in this — the casting for the entire show is on point. We watched the last episode on Monday night and I’m anxiously awaiting season 2!
Slow Horses (on AppleTv): On Friday night, we started season 4 — if you love spy drama this show is for you. Set in England, it follows a group of dysfunctional MI5 agents and their unrefined and ill-mannered boss, Jackson Lamb. The seasons are short, with only 6 episodes each, so it ends up being a pretty quick watch!

Recent outfits:
Outfit 1: Wore this to a girl’s dinner at Minetta Tavern. Because it was cold and icy out, the riding boots felt like a practical and stylish choice. When styling these leggings, I opt for a long enough top to cover my butt. To avoid the cat suit look, I contrasted the tight legging with a relaxed knit to add volume. If you still love your skinny jeans, just easily swap a black skinny jean in place of the leggings.
Outfit 2: How fun is this tiger print dress? It’s reminiscent of this stunning Oscar De La Renta mini dress that I saw on the always stylish Hannah Chody. I took up the hemline to make it extra mini. When styling a blazer with a mini skirt or dress, I like the end of the blazer to fall near, at, or below the mini hemline. Keeping the hemlines similar will minimize the districting horizontal lines and make the outfit feel more cohesive.
Outfit 3: This outfit was my personal favorite from my office looks this week — I loved the layers of texture (ribbed top, slick jacket, wool pant, and suede boots) and the chocolate + burgundy color palette with a pop of check print. It was professional, but not boring or overly corporate.

Out and about in DC:
A friend snagged a Wednesday night reservation at Minetta Tavern. The restaurant and upstairs sister bar opened in Union Market in November, and like most new DC restaurants, the reservations book up quickly.
I loved the cozy, old school, traditional interiors — I’m a sucker for a checkered floor! And how fab is that vintage silver wine bucket stand? I need one.
Besides the on point interiors and ambiance, the service and food were great. I’m a pescatarian, so I got a butter lettuce salad and the agnolotti —the crispy sage garnish was an A+ finishing detail!
Once dinner concluded, we didn’t have enough time to check out the speakeasy-like Lucy Mercer bar upstairs. Saving that for the next time!
