6 Americana-Inspired Looks for the 4th
Classic hues, modern cuts, and effortless ways to wear red, white, and blue
Our 4th of July festivities kicked off this week — just in time to perfectly coincide with the heat dome. Lucky us!
Below are 6 styled outfits inspired by your Instagram styling requests. Whether you’re headed to a BBQ, parade, or block party, chances are it’ll be hot — so practicality is key. Think easy, loose-fitting silhouettes, breezy, breathable fabrics, and shoes made for walking on grass or chasing after little ones.
I love Americana style, but hate when it feels cliché. Keep scrolling for fresh take on the classics, along with a full roundup of outfit inspo to get you through the holiday weekend in style.
This post is too long for email, so I recommend reading it in Substack for the best experience! If you enjoy this post, please leave a heart or share with friends who might also enjoy following along!
1. Lightweight Knit Vest + Linen Pants + T-strap Sandal

I love the look of a sleeveless knit vest, especially the cut and ribbed details of the one above, but only if the temperatures allow for the heavier fabric. If it’s too warm for a knit, style with a lightweight cotton striped tank top instead.
If the occasion calls for a more elevated look, swap out the casual linen pant for a tailored linen trouser and a heeled sandal.
A fail-proof color palette? Navy, tan, and white. It’s classic, nautical, and likely something you already have in your closet.
2. Linen Mini Dress + Flat Slide Sandals
For a Americana style, you can never go wrong with a gingham, bandana, or stripe print.
3. Sleeveless Blouse + Dressy Shorts + Embellished Sandals
I keep gravitating towards pin tuck blouses — especially styles like the above that have subtle structure and nip in at the waist. The narrow, stitched pleats add interest to the blouse without bulkiness.
How cute is the raffia wine bag? It’s perfect to pair with your favorite rosé as a hostess gift!
4. Sleeveless Button Up + Cropped Pants + Kitten Heel Sandal
If you love a button up shirt, but want something less corporate and masculine, consider a sleeveless style with a slim, feminine cut. I especially love the style above that has a tasteful cut out back — the tie back not only adds instant interest, but also creates more shape at the waist.
I paired the above outfit with a low heel, but if a flat is more practical for the occasion/location, swap in a flat red sandal like this or this.
5. Maxi Dress + Embellished Sandals
Once I had a noticeable bump, the outfits I felt the most confident wearing were the ones that showed off my bump. The elastic bodice of the above dress will comfortably hug the bump, while the loose fitting skirt will be breezy.
With the heat, you have to rely on your accessories for adding interest to an outfit. Let’s break down all the details that I included for more interest —
A large eyelet scrunchie — highly unlikely that your hair will be down with the heat and humidity, so don’t forget to style your pony!
A chic red nail polish
Stacked resin bangles — the brown/cream combo feels organic and emphasizes the tonal palette with the white dress and beige sandals.
A pop of red with the woven clutch — not only does the pop of color add interest, but the woven leather adds texture and depth.
Embellished hardware on the sandals
This final outfit is a similar formula to Outfit #5, so I don’t think it’s worth highlighting as a separate formula, but I shared the outfit on Instagram, so I want to share it here too!
I bought the dress, but then shopped my closet to style it with my own accessories. The dress is 100% linen and lined — I wore it to a 4th of July event on Tuesday when it was insanely hot. Thankfully the navy gingham print did a great job concealing that I was dripping in sweat and this setting spray kept my makeup from melting away!
If the sandal isn’t practical for chasing little ones, you can always swap in a cute sneaker like this.

Until next time,
Kelly
